Lionel Messi is set to leave La Liga giants FC Barcelona after having a contract failed due to financial conditions. Although both the parties were ready to be in the contract due to the economic hit by Coronavirus, they have agreed to part ways.
Recently, the news of FC Barcelona star Messi leaving the Catalan club has hit the world of football by storm. He was in constant contact with FCB to renew the contract but things didn’t go their way.
What FC Barcelona has to say about it?
According to the Barcelona official page, Messi will no longer be linked with Barcelona. They added;
“Despite having reached an agreement between Barcelona and Leo Messi and with the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, it will not be possible to formalize due to economic and structural obstacles (Spanish LaLiga regulations).
Barcelona also thanked Messi with their heart for his service at Barcelona and wish for his personal and professional life.
What really happened?
Before, Messi and Barcelona were on good terms of having his contract extension for five years. Messi even agreed to cut his salary by 50% understanding the club’s economic situation due to Covid. But recently, FC Barcelona has confirmed the departure of their star player.
