Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been released from jail. GMP issued a statement to confirm the grant of bail to the player. He was taken into custody after his girlfriend exposed the video where he was found physically abusing her.
Before, he was arrested by the officials for further investigation of the case. Regarding the release of Mason G from prison, Manchester Police release a statement saying,
“A 20-year-old man arrested on Sunday 30 January 2022 on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation.”
When was Greenwood arrested?
On Sunday morning, GMP released a statement about the arrest of Greenwood. They announced,
“GMP were made aware earlier today of online social media images & videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence…following inquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape & assault.”
Why was Greenwood sent to jail?
Previously, he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on Sunday following allegations on social media by his girlfriend. She published some sensitive photos through her social media.
She shared some photos where she was subjected to being the victim of an assault by her own boyfriend, Greenwood. The event occurred on January 30, 2022.
She also released an audio where Greenwood was aggressively confronting her.
United’s response on Greenwood case
Following the case of a rape allegation, his team Manchester has also banned him from appearing with the team until further notice. They said,
“He will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice.”
He was arrested by the officials for a query about the allegation.
