Sergio Aguero has come to defend his countrymen Lionel Messi after he was threatened by Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez.
Lionel Messi has been threatened by the 4 times World Champion Canelo Alvarez after his video of putting his feet on Mexico’s jersey was spotted by the fans. It happened during Argentina’s post-match celebration after a victory against Mexico in the Second group stage round of the World Cup.
The boxer claimed that Messi disrespected Mexico as he stated,
“Saw Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag. He should ask God that I don’t find him.“
Aguero reply to Canelo
Soon after the threat was made online by Canelo, several fans came into support of the 7 times Ballon D’or winner. Some fans think that Messi did it unintentionally and Canelo overemphasized the incident.
Similarly, Manchester City legend and Messi’s former teammates have also come to the rescue.
Former Argentine striker Sergio Aguero, who is one of the closest friends of Lionel Messi stated that Canelo does know nothing about football and what goes inside the locker room. He said,
“Mr. Canelo, don’t look for excuses or problems, surely you don’t know about soccer and what happens in a locker room.”
Aguero also claimed that it is common in football or soccer to have jerseys on the floor due to sweat after the game. He added,
“The shirts are always on the floor after the games are over due to sweat and then if you see well, he makes the movement to remove the booty and accidentally hits it.“
