Miserable season for Gunners continues as Man City humiliated Arsenal by 5-0

The miserable season continues for Gunners as Man City humiliated Arsenal by 5-0 in the Etihad Stadium. Arteta’s side hasn’t scored a single goal in Premier League in the first 3 games of the 2021/22 season. Brentford and Chelsea both beat them by 2-0 goals and City added 5 against them.

Pep Guardiola started his side with the same squad that beat Norwich by 5-0 in the last game week. Grealish, F. Torres, and G. Jesus lead the frontline while Silva, Hernandez, and Gundogan are in the middle. The back four contains Walker, Laporte, Dias, and Cancelo along with E.Moraes in the goal post. Meanwhile, DeBruyne and Phil Foden are out due to injuries and Sterling started on the bench.

Arteta’s side started with Aubameyang in the front along with Xhaka, Rowe, Saka, and Odegard in the midfield. K. Tierney, Kolasinac, Holding, Chambers, and Cedric are in the defense while Leno is in the goalpost.

First half summary

7 min’ – Man City started the game with an early lead with a goal by Gundogan with a header. He headed the ball to the net from a close range with a cross by Jesus from the right flank.

10 min’-  Gundogan had another chance to double the lead but Leno made an incredible save.

12 min’- The Spanish striker F.Torres doubled the lead for the Blues from the close range. Silva crossed the ball in the Gunners post and Leno couldn’t save again.

35 min’- Gunners midfielder Xhaka got a red card with a tackle to Cancelo. And Arsenal is limited to 10 men.

43 min’- The Brazilian man Jesus made it 3 for City with an assist from Jack Grealish.

Arteta’s team is totally outplayed by Pep’s City. Arsenal looked better in the first 5 minutes as they were more pressing. But after the first goal from Gundogan, the game is totally one-sided and aMan City humiliated Arsenal in the first half already.

Second half: The misery continues for Arsenal

46 min –  Guardiola made an early change in the team substituting Zinchenko for Walker while Arteta also brought Elneny for Saka.

The 3 goal lead in the first half doesnt seems to slow down Guardiola’s side as they are more pressing since the start of the second half.

53 min –  Rodri made an incredible strike in the bottom right corner making 4 for City. Torres was the one to assist the man and Rodri didn’t miss the chance to pass Leno.

77 min – Sterling had a chance to make the goal to 5 but he couldn’t beat Leno.

84 min –  Ferran Torres scored the final goal with a header from the 6 yards. Mahrez crossed the ball from the right flank that Torres had no option but to score.

Manchester City totally dominated the game as Arsenal’s miserable season continues as they hadn’t scored a single goal in Premier League this season.
