Spain wins against Croatia in a 8 goal thriller

Spain is through to the quarter-finals after beating Croatia 5-3 after extra time. 


Spain knocked the 2018 World Cup runners Croatia out of Euro 2020 with a thrilling  5-3 victory. Spain scored twice in extra time to secure the quarter-final spot on the ongoing euro.

Spain Goalkeeper Unai Simon’s own goal give Croatia the early advantage. On a backpass from Pedri, Simon completely missed his touch, and the ball goes directly to the goalpost. Croatia’s lead was shortly equaled by Spain Sarabia in the 37th minute.

Then Cesar Azpilicueta and Ferran Torres gave Spain a 3-1 lead till the 85th minute. Croatia Mislav Orsic scored in the 85th minute and Mario Pasalic scored just three minutes ahead into stoppage time to level for Croatia.

At the extra time, Alvaro Morata produced a moment of magic to put his Spanish side back in front by scoring a wonderful goal in the 100th minute. Morata now has two goals to his name this tournament. And he also becomes the joint goal scorer(5) for Spain at the European Championships labeling with Fernando Torres (5).

Mikel Oyarzabal made it 5-3 to book Spain’s places in the quarter-finals in the Euro 2020 Tournament.

Spain will now face the winner of France vs Switzerland for a spot in the semi-finals.
