Real Madrid’s young forward Rodrygo Goes has revealed how Luka Modric mocked Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah after beating them in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League final.
Salah’s RIVALRY with Real Madrid
Real Madrid and Liverpool’s long-time rivalry does not seem to be going off early as the two giants meet again in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 in 2022/23.
Till now, Liverpool has faced the Royal Whites 9 times winning just 3 matches with 1 draw and 5 losses. The most heartbreaking moment was in the 2017/18 season final when Madrid beat the inform Reds to secure consecutive 3 UCL titles – the only team to do it in the history of UCL.
The two teams again met after 4 years in Paris as Salah and his teammates under Jurgen Klopp were ready to face Ancelotti’s ferocious Real. Prior to the match, Salah openly stated his desire to beat the Los Blancos to revenge the 2017/18 UCL campaign. Prior to the match, he posted a very intriguing message to the fans as he wrote on his social media –
“We have a score to settle”

Real Madrid and Modric mocked Salah
With the victory, Real Madrid left no chance to mock their rival Liverpool’s Salah. Rodrygo in an interview revealed the story about Real Madrid’s reaction to Salah’s statement and mockery by Modric.
Rodrygo revealed that Madrid was not happy with his statement about revenge against them. So, they used to take his name even in their training too. Rodrygo told,
“In our head, it was already ‘we need to win to make fun of Salah.” He added, “When a guy provokes you, sometimes you just want to win so you can make fun of them. In training, we used to say ‘come on Salah, come on Salah.”
The young forward continued saying the interaction between Modric and Salah in the tunnel after the final whistle. He said,
“After the final ended, we passed the Liverpool players in the corridor. Salah was a bit sad and [Luka] Modric said ‘try again next time’.”
