Saudia Arabia has unexpectedly beaten the highly-ranked Argentina in the first match of both teams in the World Cup. With the game, they have broken Argentina’s 36 games unbeaten streak.
Saudi Arabia’s performance against Argentina
Argentina lost their first match of the FIFA World Cup against Saudi Arabia with a final scoreline of 2-1. Messi’s penalty goal in the first half was not enough to beat Saudi as they returned 2 goals in the second half.
Saleh Alshehri scored in the 48th minute with a slight touch from the left side of the post. Five minutes later, Salem Aldawasari scored a stunning goal from outside the box leaving Martinez standed.
With the win, Saudi Arabia gathered 3 points while Messi and Argentina leave with 0 points in Group C.
