Arsenal has landed Chelsea’s experienced midfielder Jorginho deal for a fee of £12 million ($14.8 million) in total.
The 31-year-old Italian international has agreed to personal terms with the north London club and is anticipated at Arsenal’s training facility today. The deal is already in place but the medical is yet to be completed.
Jorginho will commit to Arsenal under a deal that runs through 2024 with an option to extend another year.
With Mohamed Elneny out injured, the Premier League leaders have very little backup for Thomas Partey, who is their first-choice defensive midfielder. The deal for Jorginho was driven by Mikel Arteta as he felt the need for it.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal were chasing Brighton’s Caicedo deal. But Brighton has been reluctant not to sell now.
However, the signing of Jorginho may have filled a gap somewhat, Arsenal are still pursuing the Ecudarian Defensive midfielder, Moises Caicedo.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is attempting to complete a transfer for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, which would further demote Jorginho in west London’s hierarchy.
